The Sex & Slavery Lab brings scholars knowledgeable about the ways race, sex, histories of slavery, violence, and resistance have intersected in the lives of straight, queer, cis, and trans women and gender non-binary people of African descent across the diaspora into conversation with graduate students, junior faculty, and each other.

The Sex & Slavery Lab is convened by Jessica Marie Johnson, Assistant Professor in the Department of History and the Center for Africana Studies at the Johns Hopkins University.
